AIRLIE BEACH STAFF TRIP

In November 2021, GBA Consulting Engineers celebrated 76 years since the company was established in Barcaldine with a staff wide trip to Airlie Beach. Airlie Beach is on the Queensland coastline, within the Whitsunday Region and we had excellent weather to enjoy the sea change!

Over the last few years, we're proud to have experienced great growth whilst engineering the outback, leading us to the opening of our Emerald office in 2013 and our Rockhampton office in 2021.

Our trip was an excellent opportunity to thank our teams, meet the growing staff and reflect on the work we have achieved as an organisation since 1945. We were grateful to have 50 staff members from across our offices, including our six partners, and some family members join us for a few days of training, celebrations and re-energising before the year ahead.

Some of our team members shared some favourite memories from the trip.

Nader Mohseni (Graduate)

I really enjoyed the trip as a whole but if I had to pick a memory it would be the GBA social events. It was a great environment to get to know more about some of my colleagues and to also meet most of them for the first time. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and it made the whole experience worthwhile.

Hanno Du Toit (Civil Engineer)

Being new to GBA and to Central Queensland, this was such an amazing opportunity to get to know my colleagues while also enjoying the beautiful venue. The Friday night dinner was a standout for me, as I had a chance to experience the close-knit culture between GBA employees. I was made to feel very welcome as many colleagues made time to meet me and my family while we enjoyed some awesome food and lively conversation. The rest of the weekend was thoroughly enjoyed as we explored some of Airlie’s sights and offerings. Great venue, great food, and great company!

Darren Richardson (Partner)

My favourite memory of the Airlie Beach trip was most definitely the social events held on the Friday and Saturday nights. It was fantastic to see the wonderful smiles on the faces of the staff. Everyone was having a great time and it really was a great opportunity for the staff to catch up and meet with others from different locations. On a personal note, I was extremely grateful to the staff for presenting the Partners with an early Christmas gift. A touching gesture which was extremely appreciated!
