Amongst our suite of expertise, GBA Engineers offer drone services to assist and enhance our current practices by performing aerial photography and video for surveying and mapping purposes. Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), are light aircraft without any crew or passengers on board which are often used to collect data and imagery. GBA Engineers currently has 3 drones along with 11 pilots. Of the 11 UAV pilots, five of them hold a current pilots licence.
Our Associate & Senior Engineer, Richard Back has been with GBA Engineers for 5 years and is one of our drone pilots. Richard has shared some insight into GBA's drone service offering explaining the company purchased their first drones back in September 2017.
Some of the drone services we offer include:
Up to date aerial photographs of sites, for engineering & environmental teams’ reports, designs, and drawings;
Complement surveying services by expanding amount and type of data collection, reduction in time taken to survey, improving efficiency; and
Promotional photography and video for before and after of projects.
Some of drone works include stockpile surveys, inspections and road realignment investigations.
